I have an obsession with painting suns and it's for a good reason.
When grief took over and consumed my existence, I became irrational at the thought that I had to stay there stuck where I was. I stopped creating, I stopped moving, even with all the ideas flooding my head that I just wished would flow into the ether and leave me.
But I started to sketch and paint in those moments. Little movements, little strokes of the pen and paint brush, always a sun. Partially because I loved them, and also remembering how eventually, I would need to let the sun rise once more. Just like The Sun card in the tarot, it was about being able to celebrate getting out of the darkness, the inevitable that we survive and in that is enough to celebrate.
Each sun is meant to be somber and peaceful, never boasting with happiness. A warmth in knowing that surviving doesn't mean having it all figured it out. Just showing up is enough, you are enough ☀️💛✨️
